Professor Dr. Chockalingam Aravind Vaithilingam is a distinguished Chartered Engineer, registered with the Engineering Council UK, and holds a doctoral degree in Electrical Power Engineering. His PhD research garnered international acclaim, earning a gold award at MTE 2013. A recognized thought leader, Dr. Aravind is a frequent speaker at both international and national conferences.
Professor Aravind served as the Programme Director (2018-2025) for the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Programme at Taylor’s University, which became the first within the school to be ranked in the QS 2023/2024 narrow subject rankings. He was also founding Director of the Clean Technology Impact Lab (2022-2025), focusing on SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), as part of Taylor’s University’s purpose driven strategy .
In addition to his academic leadership, Dr. Aravind is an active Professional Technologist with the Malaysian Board of Technologists, a Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of both the Society of Engineering Education Malaysia and the IET UK. He also leads the high-impact research cluster, VERTICALS, and holds multiple patents in energy applications, including his most recent innovation, a hybrid low-cost solar energy harvester developed in 2021.
With over 150 indexed publications and research grants amounting to USD 287,703, more than half of which he secured as principal investigator—Dr. Aravind is a prolific contributor to the field of energy technology. He is also the developer of the award-winning E-CODE design thinking enterprise framework, which has been used to advance teaching, learning, and research solutions.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to education, Dr. Aravind has been honored with the prestigious President and Vice Chancellor’s Award for Transformational Teaching and Learning in 2024.
