Dr Loh Kah Heng @ Low Kah Heng

Dr. Loh Kah Heng is the Program Director Cum Senior Lecturer of American Degree Transfer Program at Taylor’s University. He has been working in the education industry for the past 35 years. He started his teaching career as a Pre-University Physics teacher in a high school since 1986. He joined Taylor’s College as Physics and Mathematics lecturer in 1989. In 1997, he transferred to American Degree Program to teach Physics, Mathematics, Computing and Digital Literacy modules. He is one of the longest service academic staff at Taylor’s University with 32 years of tracked record in academic field. He has been actively involved in research, administrative work and community service in the past 3 decades.

Being an educator, Dr. Loh believes in lifelong learning along with his teaching career. He earned his first degree in Bachelor of Science in Physics and Computer Science from Campbell University, North Carolina, USA, which enabled him to begin his teaching career path in a high school. While teaching in the high school, he continued his study in University of Malaya for the Post Graduate Diploma in Education, and completed the course in 1989. With this professional qualification in teaching career, he joined Taylor’s College to start his second phase of teaching career. In 1997, he obtained his Master in Information Technology from National University of Malaysia. He proceeded to teach in the current program, American Degree Transfer program with Master Degree and continued to pursue Doctorate degree in Library and Information Science in International Islamic University of Malaysia. He obtained his PhD in 2010 with the research title “The Impact of Information Literacy Skills Training on Uncertainty Reduction, Learning Performance and Academic Self-efficacy in a Problem-based Learning (PBL) Environment”.

He has presented many papers in the area of Information and Digital Literacy, Uncertainty and Academic self-efficacy in PBL in International Conferences and was invited to chair Conference Session in international conferences such as International Academic Forum (IAFOR) Conference in OSAKA, Japan and international Conferences organized by Research Management Publication (RMP) in Saigon, Vietnam. He has also published many research papers in Scopus and ERA journal, as well as peer review journals, focusing in the Problem-Based Learning, Academic Self-efficacy and On-line Learning as well as MOOC. He successfully completed the Taylor’s University Research Grant on a research project entitled “Application of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to investigate students’ acceptance of MOOC at Taylor's University” in 2019.

Currently, Dr. Loh Kah Heng affiliates to Taylor’s University, Malaysia and serves as the Program Director in the American Degree Transfer Program, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He stay in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
