Associate Professor Dr Sucharita Srirangam

Dr Sucharita Srirangam is an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, Building and Design. She is also the Hub Leader of Urban Resilience for Climate Change at Taylor’s University. She has built an international profile through research, teaching, and professional experience. Her research focuses primarily on urban design, where sustainability manifests in a synergy between space and users. She holds expertise in place-making, urban resilience, sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), Space Syntax, and smart cities. Dr Sucharita’s teaching ethos is an integrated approach to architectural design, wherein the process becomes a balance between a triad of pragmatic, conceptual, and theoretical explorations. Her contributions include recommendations and practical space planning with environmental simulation tools such as space syntax, GIS, digital twins for smart cities, urban digital representation, and BIM modelling. Being an active member of the Sustainability, Climate Change and New Urban Agenda Committee [SCCNUA] Committee at Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia [PAM or the Malaysian Institute of Architects], Dr Sucharita also continuously contributes to the national level strategies and effective ways of sustainable architecture and urbanism through the cognition of the UN Sustainable Development Goals [SDG], Environment, Social and Governance [ESG] and New Urban Agenda [NUA].
