Ts Dr Charles Sharma Naidu A/L Achu Naidu

Ts. Dr. Charles Sharma Naidu is currently the Director of VORTEX XR Lab, which is Taylor’s University's most advanced extended reality lab fully equipped with virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality and cutting edge computing as well as game development technology. He is a senior lecturer in the undergraduate programme and fulfils his role as principal supervisor as well as co-supervisor in the post-graduate programme with The Design School, Faculty of Innovation and Technology. With a PhD in Education and a focus on instructional design, educational simulations and gamification, he has demonstrated a keen interest in the potential of immersive technologies such as virtual and augmented reality to enhance learning experiences. As the Director of VORTEX XR Lab, Dr. Charles and his team has been actively involved in development efforts and research; centered around leveraging Extended Reality technologies as solutions to impact the teaching and learning community and expand its application as collaborative efforts with the industry. Apart from work, VR, Star Trek and the science fiction universe inspires him and he also enjoys the outdoors as well as gardening. He is an extrovert and enjoys socializing with friends, colleagues, students and family.
