Dr Elise Line Mognard

Dr. Elise joined Taylor’s University (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) in 2014 after receiving her PhD in sociology from Université de Toulouse, CERTOP-CNRS (Toulouse - France). She is one of the members of the CNRS International Associated Laboratory (CNRS-LIA) “Food Studies: Food, Cultures and Health” and main researchers of the Asian Food Barometer. This study aims at describing and understanding the food habits and transformation of the many different dimensions of communities including practices, social norms, social representations and beliefs. Besides, she is leading the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) “Towards a model of concerted and participative food heritage touristic valorization process: Kelabit indigenous community, Sarawak”. Dr. Elise’s work currently focuses on tourism promotion of food heritage and on environmental and societal drivers of food and eating habits.

Key research interests: Food heritage and tourism, regulation of the relations between human and animals in food, cosmopolitan methodologies, food environments.
